The swiss ball has been around for a few decades now. It took a while to catch on before becoming one of the most versatile fitness tools around. Invented in the 1960s by an Italian toy manufacturer, European physios discovered its versatile purposes in rehabilitation. In the 1980s, when physical therapists from the USA visited PT facilities in Switzerland and saw the new innovative, effective techniques using this ball, they brought the new-found knowledge back to the USA and termed the balls “Swiss Balls“. During the 1990s , the fitness industry caught on to this incredible “new“ fitness tool . Today, virtually every club has a stack of them and both personal trainers and individuals use them for many uses in their fitness programs. They are a must to have in any home gym!
