Gain Muscle

Gaining muscle requires a combination of resistance training and a good nutritional programme to see the best results. Understanding how to put on muscle fast and maximize your muscle development requires a  thoughtful approach.  Alongside this your genetics and body type can play an important part in helping you gain muscle fast. The great thing about resistance training is that there are so many different ways you can do it, especially if you like variety in your workouts. Some examples of these may be using free-weights, kettle-bells, resistance bands or tubes, bodyweight suspension training or a range of different purpose built machines.

Bodybuilding to your physique assists and stimulates the metabolic rate to increase calorie expenditure during exercise and at rest, giving you an added advantage to losing excess body fat at the same time.

Increasing your lean muscle mass, will require you to perform a range of resistance body building training movements ( dumbbells, resistance bands, kettlebells, multi-gym etc) to momentary muscle failure to stimulate a growth response. For example performing a bicep curl for 12 repetitions but being unable to complete a 13th due to muscle fatigue. For beginners 3 x 20 minute sessions are a great starting point.

Once these muscle fibres have been damaged during a resistance training workout, they will require sufficient levels of protein and rest to assist the recovery process to gaining weight.  This is where a well planned nutritional programme providing you with the right nutrients will improve your muscle building workouts and progress.

There are many food supplements available to assist your recovery and weight gain training progress such as, Creatine, L-Glutamine, Tribulus, electrolyte replacement drinks and most importantly Protein powder.  Protein powder comes in a range of different types, like Whey, Casein, Milk & Egg & Soy and caters for those who have intolerances to Gluten or Lactose.  Ask an Elite Fitness Representative for more information on which one to help gain weight suits you best.
